What is obstructive sleep apnoea?

Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is a largely undiagnosed sleep disorder where a person’s upper airway repeatedly collapses during sleep causing them to stop breathing for a period of 10 seconds or longer.

Millions of people suffer with OSA, yet 80% are undiagnosed. There are a number of symptoms that could be a sign of OSA, including choking or gasping for air at night, loud persistent snoring, frequent visits to the bathroom and waking up tired.

Left untreated these can lead to long term health consequences such as Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity and depression.
